Holy Crap! “Friends” Returns to NBC!

By tvd2

Seminal sitcom Friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.”

Also, LeBlanc, Schwimmer and Perry (Joey, Ross, and Chandler) will star in a new “Friends” spin off series called “It’s a Guy Thing”.

Wow — for some reason this is freaking me out — is it April 1st already?

Unfortunately, Friends jumped the shark as soon as they all started sleeping with one another. I really like that show about 10 years ago. So sad. I don’t know if this is a testament to NBC’s declining ratings or what.

[...] I found it here and followed the link to the original article… I am pleasantly surprised with the news that they will be doing four double episodes of “Friends”. Way to go! Can’t wait to watch these shows next year. [...]

  5. Hari Says:

Nice! Although I hope it’s like the good stuff of the first 8 or so seasons – I can’t bear to watch seasons 9 or 10; they were pretty awful…

But, that said, it would be nice to have more Chandler in our lives again!

  6. Toni Says:

Is this story for real? I mean, while I can see that the other 5 actors might want to do this since they haven’t been as successful post-”Friends”, but I don’t think that Jennifer Aniston will want to return to TV. It would be a step backwards for her. It’s like if George Clooney went back to “ER”.

  7. Photo Steve Says:

It reeks of desperation. And I agree with Toni. Why would Aniston or Perry do this? They’ve had success outside of Friends, so how could this possibly further their careers?

  8. J Says:

Especially since Matthew Perry is slated to be in a really good show coming out. It’s called Studio 7 I believe, it is like a behind the scenes version of an SNL type show… It is being created by Aaron Sorkin and there is a lot of buzz over the pilot script…

[...] Probably wouldn’t call it Season 11, but according to Hollywood.com there will be four new hour-long episodes of Friends [via tvd2]. I’m always skeptical of sequels and spin-offs, but as a big fan of the series, i’m definitely curious to see what the writers will pull off. When they wanted to, the writers of the original series were able to create some great television. I’ve still never seen Joey, and am even more skeptical of the proposed It’s A Guy Thing series featuring the guys of Friends. [...]
